Risk disclosure

What this software does, and what it cannot do for you.

Read this before relying on anything GoOptions shows you.

GoOptions is analysis software

GoOptions is being built to help you examine options positions before and after you take them: screening candidates, classifying a structure, establishing what it can lose, deriving a position size from a loss you are willing to accept, and recording the conditions you intend to enter and exit on. Not all of that is available yet, and the platform is under active development.

Anything it produces is analytical information derived from the data and the policies you supply. It is not a recommendation, and it is not personalised investment, tax or legal advice.

GoOptions connects to no market-data feed and to no brokerage, so it has no independent knowledge of prices, of your positions, or of your account. It knows only what is entered into it.

What GoOptions does not do

  • It does not execute orders. GoOptions places no orders, cancels no orders and routes nothing to any venue.
  • It does not connect to a brokerage account, and it neither holds nor has access to your funds or securities.
  • It does not ask for, store or transmit a brokerage or bank username and password.
  • It does not close positions for you, and it enforces no exit. Where it reports that a condition you set has been met, acting on it is your decision alone.
  • It does not guarantee any trading outcome, and no result it shows is a prediction of what a market will do.
  • It does not prevent losses. Nothing in the software stops a position from losing value.

Options carry substantial risk

Options are leveraged instruments and are not suitable for everyone. Losses are possible, they can happen quickly, and they can be total. An option can expire worthless, in which case the entire premium paid is lost. Some strategies can lose more than the amount initially paid or received, and a short position can be assigned before expiration.

Market conditions can work against a position in ways a model does not anticipate: prices can gap through a level you intended to act at, liquidity can disappear, spreads can widen, and an order you planned may not be fillable at the price you planned it at.

The limits of a risk evaluation

Where GoOptions reports a maximum loss, that figure describes the structure you described to it, under the assumptions of the model, using the data you gave it. It is a property of the arithmetic, not a promise about the market.

Policy checks compare a candidate position against limits you have set yourself. A check that passes means only that the position is inside your own limits. It does not mean the trade is a good idea, and it does not mean the position is safe.

Analysis is only as good as its inputs. Incorrect, stale or incomplete data produces confident-looking output that is wrong, and the software cannot always tell the difference.

Availability and accuracy

GoOptions is under active development. Features may change, be incomplete, or be withdrawn. No warranty is offered that the software will be available, error-free, or correct in every case. Do not rely on it as the sole basis for a decision involving money.

Your decisions are yours

You are responsible for the trades you place and for judging whether a strategy suits your circumstances. Consider seeking advice from a qualified, independent professional before trading options.
